Founders Fuel - OpenAI makes some huge plays

OpenAI just released their GPT-4o meaning the “Omni” model of their GPT-4 lineup and based on Sam Altman’s tweets, it will be completely free! The Omni model means that it will natively be multimodal, accepting both speech and text straight to the model without having to transcribe them into text first. This makes it much faster when working with speech or text.

In the demos OpenAI showcased on their Twitter livestream, their CTO Mira Murati demos the new capabilities of the model. The response time for speech is so short, it feels like human conversation-level response times. Also, the ability to change your tone of voice and even sing is amazing (while a bit uncanny still).

While Sam Altman claimed the new version will be free for everyone, thus far I’ve only got it working on the plus version. Maybe it will be available later for everyone or I made a mistake, but the free version of ChatGPT does run on GPT-4 now!
