I was a bit on an academic hiatus for the past 2 months, but wanted to now return to writing once my brief stint as an academic weapon is over. At the same time, not much has happened in the startup ecosystem. People have just buried to build their products at their offices (as they probably should be). In the realm of AI, while much has happened, it feels like there have not been as game changing updates as was the weekly occurrence a while back. That being said, I’ve selected some of my favorites here!

Google slaps back in the AI race

Googles new models are quite insane. I’ve been building some MCP stuff lately, and the new Gemini 2.5 pro model feels the best for complex coding right now. I more vibe based news take from Fireship below.

Since they asked to be highlighted, Mimir is doing an interesting event in a couple weeks. I was in charge of the venue last year so if they are doing anything similar, worth a visit!
